Advice / materials

With a suitable care, your shoes will last longer:

Clean your smooth leather shoes with a clean cloth. Apply the polish only on clean and dry leather. Let the shoes dry and then brush them. They will have a new look.
For footwear made from nubuk leather you should brush the shoe with a suitable brush for nubuk and waterproof your shoes with spray.

It is recommended to put inside the shoe a suitable shoe tree to keep the original shape of the shoe or to adapt the shape of your foot. It will absorb the moister and provide fresh fragrance of your shoe.

Especially use the rules for the perfect care of your occupational footwear.

On the occupational footwear the following markings and information can be found:

  • Manufacturer
  • size of the footwear
  • the applied standard
  • the CE marking
  • model No. of the footwear
  • year/quarter of production
  • protection level(e.g.. OB or other supplementary markings)
  • notification No. of the notified body that has issued the EC

           Type-certificate

  • pictograph of used materials

The »CE« marking indicates that the protective equipment complies with the regulation of the 89/686/EEC Directive and the relevant standard. Conformity with the requirements has been tested by a notified testing laboratory (BIMEO Ltd.). The number (1525) next to the CE marking is the notification number of the notified body.
The EN ISO 20347 standard number indicates that the protective equipment complies with basic requirements of the standard in force in the EU regarding occupational footwear.
In addition to the basic requirements the footwear may satisfy supplementary requirements. These are indicated by the markings of the protection level (OB or O1 or O2 or O3, etc.) and other supplementary markings.

Symbols:
X – Obligatory requirements
O – Thee are not obligatory requirements but if the footwear meets these, the adequate marking will be placed on the footwear next to the marking of the protection level (e.g. OB,E – footwear meeting the basic requirements and also having heel-energy absorption property).
Class: I – Footwear made from leather or other materials, with the exception of footwear made completely from plastic.
OB: Conforms to the basic safety requirements regarding occupational footwear.
O1: Beyond the protection of OB marked footwear the stiffener area is closed, the footwear is antistatic with energy absorption in the seat region; recommended for dry work conditions.
O2: Beyond the protection of O1 marked footwear the upper is water resistant – up to given limit; recommended while working under moist (but not wet) conditions.
O3:  Beyond the protection of O2 marked footwear the sole protects against penetration and the sole is patterned; recommended for use while working in a high-risk environment.
Although there is no specific marking for this, our footwear offers some limited protection against slipping. We do not however take responsibility for protection against risks not listed above.
The indicated protection is only offered by footwear in good condition that has been maintained well. Use only intact footwear that is devoid of any damage. If the footwear is damaged it will no more offer the protection level indicated by the markings. Also take into account that specific work conditions may be different from the condition of the conformity testing.

Information regarding storage, cleaning, maintenance and usage:

  • Before using the footwear check if it is intact and also the profile of the sole. Using footwear with a worn off sole profile greatly increases the risk of slipping,
  • choose always a suitable size of the shoe, try it on
  • after using store the footwear in an open, airy place, far from heating applications,
  • do not use the footwear if damaged, ask for its repair or exchange because it will no more offer the protection indicated by its markings,
  • use a brush to clean off mud and other contamination,
  • clean stains with a wet cloth,
  • to keep upper in good condition use an adequate shoe polish.
Determination of the time of wearing out (expected lifetime) – which primarily depends upon the work conditions i.e. the effective stress – is the task of the employer. Please take into account here also that the specific work conditions may be different from test conditions.
